Xbox Game Pass Family Sharing Plan Release Date Microsoft

Rumor: Xbox Game Pass Finally Getting Family Sharing

Microsoft is reportedly bringing a feature that parents with Xbox consoles have been clamoring for: Xbox Game Pass Family Sharing. According to a report by Windows Central, trusted sources have divulged that an Xbox Game Pass Family Plan, which other subscription services like Nintendo Switch Online and Netflix have, will be arriving sometime later this year.

How will family sharing work with Xbox Game Pass?

The current “family sharing” feature for Xbox Game Pass is admittedly long-winded and obtuse, requiring one Xbox console to be designated as a the Xbox Game Pass holder’s home console. While this would allow other family members in the household to access the Xbox Game Pass subscription by accessing that home console, it’s only through that single point and all the hoops that the subscription holder has to go through doesn’t make the process easy.

Apparently, Microsoft has been wanting to introduce a true Xbox Game Pass Family Plan for a long time behind the scenes; however, given some of the deals it has already accepted from publishers and developers to have their games on the subscription service, it has been unclear how to distribute funds appropriately from a family plan. That said, it seems that Microsoft has worked on the kinks and will be moving forward with its plan.

The Xbox Game Pass Family Plan will reportedly have various tiers, with the highest tier allowing up to five players within the same country to access the subscription service. Like other services on the market, one of the members in the plan will need to be the primary account holder, responsible for adding or removing permissions to those in the household.

However, at this time several details are still unclear, as Xbox Game Pass has distinct versions between PC and Xbox consoles. It also has a basic plan versus the Ultimate plan which could add to the complication. Either way, it is expected that Microsoft will announce how the Xbox Game Pass family sharing features will work in due time.

In other news, Tekken 7’s director wishes fans to stop asking him about the Elden Ring mod for the game, and the free two-week period for Call of Duty Vanguard has already begun.
