Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Trademark Filed by Square Enix in United Kingdom, Possibly Split Single- and Multiplayer?

A new game in the Deus Ex franchise may have been leaked by the European Union trademark office yesterday, dubbed Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

The new title seems to suggest that this game follows the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the recent franchise prequel developed by Square Enix Montreal. The studio previously announced Deus Ex: Universe, meaning this trademark application could signal either an entirely new project or a name-change for Universe.

NeoGAF user Rosti spotted the application which was filed for computer game software, printed material like books and strategy guides, and online entertainment services.

Could Deus Ex: Mankind Divided be a single-player component to an online-multiplayer Deus Ex: Universe, not unlike GTA V and GTA Online? We're not sure, but the previous Deus Ex: Universe announcement fits with this.

We loved Deus Ex: Human Revolution and can't wait to see what comes next in the universe. Don't forget to check out the 12-minute Deus Ex short film we posted yesterday to get excited for this potential next-gen Deus Ex.
