Sony's video games division has had an incredible year thus far, as PlayStation 4 consoles continue to fly off shelves at a steady rate. Sadly, the same can't be said about Sony as a corporation, as the company is has sent out a warning that its 2014 financial year loss will likely be 18 percent worse than initially anticipated.
Ever since news broke that Sony was moving out of the PC market by selling off its VAIO brand, sales in this department have been lower than expected. Couple that with some unforeseen disc manufacturing costs, and you've got a whole lot more expenditure that even the success of PlayStation 4 can't make up for.
There's hope for the company, however, as Sony CEO Kaz Hirai is still working to trim the excess fat to make Sony the lean and profit-generating machine it desperately needs to be. Here's to hoping those growing pains don't last too much longer.
