Deep Silver Reveals Further Details on Metro: Redux

Deep Silver, at a pre-E3 event in Santa Monica, has given further details on Metro: Redux, a remastered compilation of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light by 4A Games for PC and next-gen consoles. A trailer has been revealed above, though a teaser video on Vine was posted yesterday.

More than merely a Definitive Edition with fancier graphics,it will revamp both titles with improved gameplay, new game modes, and day-night cycles. Particularly with Metro 2033, the developers have seen fit to re-render the entire game with the engine of Metro: Last Light. and re-design the levels with additional scenes and edits, like a new sequence that takes place in frozen tunnels which was cut from the original title.

In a comparison video shown at the event between the new and old Metro: Last Light, the difference is stark. The environment has been made much brighter, with crisper shadowing and cleaner boundaries, to the point that it almost plays altogether like a different game altogether. You can even swipe your mask now. I know, game-changer.

Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light have been given an additional mode based on each other's style, with the publisher differentiating the two by calling Metro 2033 more survival-based and Metro: Last Light more spartan-based. Thus, Metro 2033 will be getting a Spartan mode that's more action-oriented and Metro: Last Light will be getting an option that forces players to conserve ammo and avoid enemies more.

While Deep Silver and 4A Games could have priced both remastered editions at full price, they've decided to only charge $24.99 for each remastered title or $49.99 for packaged bundle. Metro: Redux will release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in Summer 2014.
