Silicon Knights Looking to Expand with Government Help

Canada has always been kind of weird, like the US' little cousin who likes to play in the sandbox by himself while talking to his imaginary friends (the French). Just kidding, I love Canadaespecially when I hear things like this. In an era when it seems like everyone's making war on video games, the little ol' government of Ontario would rather subsidize the good men and women making them.

Canadian developer Silicon Knights today got a nice boost from the local government. It's not the first time they've gotten help, either; the company's received millions in Canadian funny-moneyerm, dollars—in both 2008 and 2010 to go towards development costs. This time around it looks like they're getting a substantial boost, as the number of jobs at the company will nearly double from 97 to 177, and SK president Denis Dyack boldly stated that the company's new intentions are to "become a self-sustainable, self-publishing entity."

What does that mean for the future? Well, besides indicating how obviously awesome Ontario's government is, if there's any justice in this world, it means that SK can finally develop and publish its own sequel to Eternal Darkness someday. Please, after you're done with X-Men Destiny, get on that right away Denis.
