Xbox Live Indie Game Does Better in a Week on Steam than a Year on Live

If you're like me, you probably visit the Indie Games section of the Xbox Live Marketplace once a week. You probably look around, see what's good, and buy a game or two for $2. You probably play those games for an hour a piece and then move on to the next thing. Unfortunately, not enough of you are like me.

That's why Zeboyd Games is happy to announce that their formerly Xbox Live Indie games Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII have been doing very well with PC gamers, particularly those on Steam:

We are pleased to announce that Zeboyd Games has already made more revenue in less than a week on Steam than we have in over a year and a half on the Xbox Live Indie Games service.

The success of our PC launch has been downright staggering to us. Before launch, I was thinking that it would be good if we managed to get in the #10-#20 best selling slots on Steam and stay there for a few days. In actuality, what happened is that we quickly climbed up the Top Sellers chart after we launched yesterday and ended up spending most of the launch day in the #1 spot. Although I don't believe I can share specific sales data at this time, all of us are ecstatic at how things are going.

The developer also mentions that they recently released their wares on Gamesgate as well. I wonder how well either of these games would have done if it weren't for all the positive word of mouth they'd received prior to their Steam release. As a proud owner of both titles, I'd say that a year of good sales on Xbox Live probably helped their profile in moving to another platform.

If you need more happy-story-time, know that Zeboyd fans actually donated the money to fund the porting process for Cthulhu Saves the World, including new content that's available with both Steam and Xbox Live Indie Games releases of the title.

I can't wait to see what project Zeboyd turns around next with their new monetary security.
