NPD Reports PlayStation 4 Top Hardware Seller Seven Months in a Row

Sony's PlayStation hardware platform has done exceedingly well for itself lately and gathered millions of fans across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and other Sony hardware via the PlayStation Now platform, marking very high numbers in July's NPD results.

PlayStation 4 achieved the number one spot in hardware sales for the seventh month in a row. The Last of Us Remastered also led software sales in the next-generation console market for July, with Sony boasting that PS4 "games accounted for more than half of total next generation software sales."

Sony also noted that July marked the second consecutive month where "PlayStation was #1 in combined home console hardware sales" when combining PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 hardware though it's more impressive to note that PS4 hardware has already cleared 10 million units sold through to consumers around the world.

Here's the software sales chart as reported by our friends at CraveOnline:

1. The Last of Us (and The Last of Us: Remastered)

2. Minecraft
