Rumor: Activision Looking to Get Into the Film Business

The publisher behind massive video game franchises like Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, and Skylanders may soon move to the silver screen in order to bring more of those audiences in for gaming-related movies.

Activision has apparently reached out to studios to begin production of movies and TV shows, though exactly how that would happen and what these projects would look like remains to be seen. I wouldn't automatically plop down for a procedural Call of Duty-themed drama when I could just as easily play the game.

While I don't think that movies and TV shows will help Activision's inability to maintain a more varied and fluid portfolio of blockbuster games and franchises, the firm's marketing branch seems second to none. Who knows what could happen?
