Amazon's purchase of Twitch Interactive is now complete, after the deal was passed yesterday and
filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The mega online retailer announced it would be purchasing the popular livestreaming service last month, debunking prior reports claiming Google would be buying the company. In addition, Twitch CEO Emmett Shear released a letter to the livestreaming community at that time, assuring users that Amazon's purchase will only mean good things for the future of the service.
"We’re keeping most everything the same: our office, our employees, our brand, and most importantly our independence," he said. "But with Amazon’s support we’ll have the resources to bring you an even better Twitch."
