Halo: The Master Chief Collection Adding Medal System to Halo: CE and Halo 2

Halo: The Master Chief Collection developer 343 Industries has confirmed that the multiplayer portion of both Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 in its upcoming compilation will feature medals, which didn't make an appearance until later entries in the series.

In an interview with IGN, the studio explained:

New medals have been added to both Halo: CE and Halo 2 for campaign and multiplayer. There are nearly 100 unique medals in both Halo: CE and Halo 2. We felt this addition would make the multiplayer experience feel more modern and give players more ways to track their progress and style.

For players who want a classic experience, medal display can be turned off for Halo: CE and can be toggled between off, classic medals, and modern medals for Halo 2 Classic. Campaign medals are awarded for enemy and style kills as part of the unified campaign scoring system, which is a new variation of the systems in Halo 3, ODST, and Reach.

Are you a fan of the medal system? Are you glad to see it's being added to the earlier games in the series? I must admit, I'm not a huge fan. Just a simple number ranking will do just fine, thank you.
