Nintendo Announces Everybody 1-2-Switch Release Date

Nintendo had long been rumored to have made a sequel to the fan-favorite 1-2-Switch, and today they confirmed the news, revealing the Everybody 1-2-Switch release date set for later this month.

When does Everybody 1-2-Switch come out?

The Everybody 1-2-Switch release date has been set for June 30, 2023, and will not only see players using the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con controllers, but also smart devices to play as well. The game is officially available to pre-order now for $29.99, and its product description notes players can “team up” and take on a variety of team-based games in the sequel.

News of Everybody 1-2-Switch first popped up last year, when a report from Fanbyte noted that the game was more or less completed and would borrow “heavily” from the library of Jackbox Games as a way to differentiate from the original game. According to the report, however, there were internal concerns about releasing the game as a full, $60 product, as the game had reportedly tested very poorly amongst people who played the game.

While it’s unclear just how much Nintendo has changed the game from its troubled state last year, the fact that the game is releasing for only $29.99 and its product description listing smart device compatibility and team-based games does confirm Fanbyte’s original report.

The original 1-2-Switch released in 2017 and became a massive hit due to its unique mini-games that made use of the Switch’s Joy-Con controllers. As of 2021, the game had gone on to sell more than 3.6 million copies, making it one of the most successful Nintendo Switch games.
