The Black iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max Doesn’t Exist

Apple users are wondering whether they can get a black version of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max with the latest version available to pre-order soon. The models were announced at the Apple Event in Cupertino, California. During the announcement, Apple confirmed that both devices would come in three different colors. Unfortunately, Black wasn’t mentioned as one of the three, raising questions about whether a black iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max would be released down the line.

Can you buy a black iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max?

No, you cannot purchase a black Apple iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will come in three distinct colors: deep blue, cosmic orange, and silver. Notably, cosmic orange was showcased in a new promotional video from Apple, headlined by Dua Lipa. However, the base iPhone 17 model will be available in black and four other colors: lavender, mist blue, white, and sage.

Both phones are expected to deliver performances exceeding the capabilities of their predecessors. Each model has an A19 Pro, which is Apple’s most powerful and efficient chip installed in an iPhone. Moreover, both models are expected to feature improved battery life. The chip facilitates advanced camera systems, improved mobile gaming experiences, and Apple Intelligence.

The models include three 48MP fusion cameras. All of these offer a quality matching a camera with eight lenses:

  • Main
  • Ultra Wide
  • Telephoto

In addition, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have an 18MP Center Stage front camera, which improves selfies. Moreover, several new video features have been integrated into the models: ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock.

Furthermore, another key feature of the Pro and Pro Max models is the Ceramic Shield 2 front cover. This front cover ensures scratch resistance threefold. The Ceramic Shield also protects the back of the models.

Notably, the iPhone 17 series introduces N1. This is a wireless networking chip designed by Apple that enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 8, and Thread. It also boosts the overall performance and reliability of iPhone mainstays AirDrop and Personal Hotspot.

Pre-orders for iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max begin on September 12, 2025, followed by launch on September 19.
