Mark Zuckerberg Unveils Meta Glasses With Display Aimed at ‘Superintelligence’

Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the Meta glasses, the first consumer-ready smart glasses with a built-in display, which the businessman sees as the path to superintelligence. As a part of the Ray-Ban line, these products will go on sale for around $800 and have impressed everyone despite some demo problems in the initial launch.

Mark Zuckerberg introduces Meta Glasses with new features

Mark Zuckerberg revealed the Meta glasses at Meta’s Connect event on September 17, 2025. Showing off features like the Meta Ray-Ban Display and a new wristband controller, the CEO received wide applause from across the room.

Pitching it as a path to superintelligence, i.e., AI that surpasses human capabilities by a long way, Zuckerberg said, “Glasses are the ideal form factor for personal superintelligence, because they let you stay present in the moment while getting access to all of these AI capabilities that make you smarter, help you communicate better, improve your memory, improve your senses, and more.”

The 41-year-old explained that the glasses have a small digital display in the right lens for basic tasks, allowing one to check notifications, messages, etc., without obstructing the view. However, there are other concerns about these glasses. This includes concerns about child safety on its social media platforms.

Apart from this Ray-Ban line, Zuckerberg also unveiled Oakley-branded glasses called Vanguard, aimed at athletes and priced at $499 at Wednesday’s event. These glasses will connect to Garmin and Strava to deliver real-time training stats and post-workout summaries. These glasses will be available from October 21, 2025.

The display glasses are not expected to be a huge hit right away, but they could pave the way for Meta’s “Orion” glasses, which are described as the future of the industry. With Meta moving forward, it will not be surprising to see other players stepping up their game to counter this.
