Apple’s M5 MacBook Release Could Arrive Sooner Than Expected

The release date for Apple’s M5-powered MacBook is on the horizon, per a new report. The report has also shared the timeframe for when fans can expect the M5 MacBook to drop. This report comes a few days after another report discussing when fans can expect the M5 chip’s reveal and which device it will first be a part of, emerged.

Apple may release M5 MacBook earlier than fans think

The release timeframe for the M5 MacBook was shared in a new report.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in his Power On newsletter, Apple was getting close to mass-producing its next line of MacBook Pros and Airs, as well as two new monitors. He added that these products would be released sometime between the end of this year and the first quarter of the next.

This report comes a few days after 9to5 Mac reported that the M5 chip would be unveiled at an Apple event sometime in October. This report also suggested that the M5 wouldn’t arrive on the Mac first, but on a new iPad Pro. This pattern was previously followed by the M4 chip, which first landed on the iPad Pro. Further, they suggested Apple’s new Vision Pro would likely include the M5 chip.

Earlier this year, Gurman reported that Apple planned to launch the new MacBook Pro, along with iPhone 17e and iPads in early 2026.

The M5 MacBook Pro is reportedly expected to be released in both the 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. There will also be three chip versions:

  • M5
  • M5 Pro
  • M5 Max

Meanwhile, the M5 MacBook Air is expected to come in the 13-inch and 15-inch sizes.

In July 2025, AppleInsider reported that Apple planned to release the M5 MacBook Pro in four distinct hardware configurations. These are:

  • J714c – MacBook Pro 14-inch with M5 Max chip
  • J714s – MacBook Pro 14-inch with M5 Pro chip
  • J716c – MacBook Pro 16-inch with M5 Max chip
  • J716c – MacBook Pro 16-inch with M5 Pro chip

Ultimately, these reports must be taken with a grain of salt as Apple has not yet officially commented on the M5 chip or the M5-powered MacBook’s release date.
