It will be held at Peacock Theater on December 11.
Mysterious statue appears in desert before The Game Awards 2025
A strange-looking statue, dubbed The Game Awards statue, has dominated gaming social feeds this week. On November 28, Geoff Keighley posted a photo of the bizarre yet enchanting sculpture with the caption “regal.inspiring.thickness.” The Mojave Desert statue shows human skulls, skeletons, a roaring lion, and an angry crocodile.
Fans immediately realised that Keighley is referencing the phrase as a What3Words location. The statue pointed to a remote patch of land near Joshua Tree, California. The official Game Awards account took fans’ excitement to the next level by sharing a satellite view of the exact coordinates, confirming the existence of the fascinating structure (via Dexerto).
Fans enthusiastically drove to see the majestic sculpture for themselves and confirmed that the bizarre Mojave Desert statue glows flaming red in the dark. This has fuelled excitement about the impending awards and even wilder theories.
One fan claimed with a deadpan expression, “It’s a portal.” Another fan commented, “Definitely diablo 4 related. The obelisk statue looks like there’s doors on it. (Red circle)”. The user highlighted a specific part of the statue to make their point. A third fan had a dramatic reaction, “Looks just like the gate to hell in Diablo 4.” The tweet was accompanied by the Mojave Desert statue glowing red in the dark.
Moreover, a fourth fan conjured up an extensive theory. They wrote, “The statue is lighting up at night! From all the evidence, this is most likely Diablo 4 Expansion, not God of War. As Diablo fans have pointed out that the demons match D4’s designs. Still hopeful that this ends up being something else, but so far, this is the conclusion.”
