Foot Keyboard Makes Games Playable With Feet

In what is perhaps the first of its kind, a Chinese mechanical keyboard company has released a foot keyboard that allows users to play certain games with their feet. The offbeat keyboard is already up for preorder on the company’s site, and it comes in three versions.

New keyboard allows gamers to use their feet to play games

Varmilo, a mechanical keyboard brand from China, has made a keyboard that is designed to be used with feet. The keyboard will allow users to play some games without using their hands, but mainly, it can work as additional keys that can be triggered with their feet.

The Foot Keyboard looks very distinct from a traditional keyboard, as one would expect from something like this. It also comes in three variants. The first one has three individual keys, with one on the left, one on the right, and one in the middle. This variant costs $50. The pricier variants include a 4-key single and a 4-key dual keyboard.

The official website describes that the Foot Keyboard is “suitable for various games, including FTG, FPS, and racing games.” The site also states that the keyboard can work both wirelessly and wired. It uses Cherry MX Silent Black switches and ABS keycaps, which should also allow a smoother operation.

This offbeat keyboard is reminiscent of the strange jeans keyboard from about a decade back. Of course, this concept never became widely used. It would be surprising if this foot keyboard became something mainstream, too.

However, with the potential advantage of custom-bound keys accessible by foot for gamers, especially competitive gamers, this offbeat idea has a chance of catching on. But it will depend on how this new device fares after it becomes widely available.

Varmilo’s innovative mechanical keyboard should be out in the market soon.
