Major Amazon Prime Show Gets Video Game Adaptation

Amazon Prime Video’s popular show The Boys is getting a video game, but it isn’t as easy as it sounds. Brazilian game studio Arvore and Sony Pictures Virtual Reality announced on Monday, December 8, that they are launching the virtual reality game, The Boys: Trigger Warning.

For those unversed, The Boys is a satirical superhero show based on the eponymous book. A team of vigilantes of the same name takes on a group of superpowered, corrupt individuals called Supes who work for Vought International.

The Boys video game releasing in 2026

Arvore and Sony Pictures Virtual Reality announced the launch of the virtual reality game The Boys: Trigger Warning. According to a press statement, beginning next year, fans will find themselves “on the front lines of the war against Supes.” (via Entertainment Weekly).

The Boys: Trigger Warning is available to pre-order at a promotional price of $23.99 on the Meta Quest storefront and to wishlist on the PlayStation Store. Interestingly, this is the first-ever game built around major The Boys characters. Furthermore, the remarkable satirical superhero show will premiere its fifth and final season in April 2026. An excerpt from the virtual reality game’s description reads, “Blending stealth and combat with the franchise’s signature dark humor, the VR title delivers a new story rooted in the world fans love.”

Cast members Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk), Colby Minifie (Ashley Barrett), and P.J. Byrne (Adam Bourke) will reprise their roles in the video game again. Interestingly, Jensen Ackles, who played Ben/Soldier Boy, will also reprise his role in the video game, but with a twist. According to the press statement, Ackles will play a “twisted interpretation of Soldier Boy created exclusively for the game.”

Arvore’s founder and head of studio, Ricardo Justus, shared his excitement for the virtual reality game. He stated, “From day one, we wanted to build an adaptation hand-in-hand with the people who defined this universe. Working with the show’s writers and cast allowed us to bring the edge, humor, and brutality that made the series iconic, delivered with the spark of magic only ARVORE can create.”

However, The Boys: Trigger Warning comes with its own challenges. Not everyone might own a VR set, so they may need to buy one separately to play the game. The additional cost may not be ideal for many fans of the series.
