AI Robot’s Sparring Session With CEO Turns ‘Brutal’

Chinese robot firm, EngineAI, recently released a new video of its T800 humanoid robot knocking its CEO backward during a test. The short clip, released with multiple camera angles, was designed to show the machine’s real-world power.

EngineAI CEO tests T800 robot’s kicks in sparring session

EngineAI, a Shenzhen startup founded in 2023, has spent the past two years developing a full-scale humanoid robot called the T800. In the company’s latest video, CEO Zhao Tongyang puts on heavy protective padding and stood directly in front of the robot.

The humanoid robot then demonstrates a series of fast martial arts moves. After planting its foot and swinging through, the T800 lands a forceful kick to Zhao’s torso. This sends him flying while the robot itself remains balanced and steady.

Zhao reacted to the test on camera. “Too violent. Too brutal!” he said after the impact, according to the company’s footage. He added a warning about the robot’s strength, saying, “Without protective gear, no one could withstand it. Anyone would break a bone.” Later, still speaking to the team at the demo, Zhao joked, “I can’t guarantee I’ll stay alive after the next test.”

EngineAI said the new multi-angle clip was intended to silence skeptics who had suggested earlier kung-fu demos were CGI or otherwise staged. EngineAI also published behind-the-scenes footage showing the T800 sparring with a human fighter. The T800 is slated to sell for about $25,000, with the company expecting first shipments no later than June 2, 2026.

One user commented under the video, “Keep laughing…. let’s see the future.” Another said, “So a human can barely take a kick…GOOD NEWS!” In reference to the Terminator movies, another user posted, “They named the robot T800? this is scary!!”
