Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition Arriving December 18

Arriving next week on December 18, Microsoft Flight Simulator X will be taking off on Steam by way of Dovetail Games, the developer and publisher best known for its Train Simulator series.

Released in 2006, the original title had the aircraft physics befitting a plane simulation, a trait which this Steam Edition proudly carries over, along with twenty planes that cover both commercial and private models. The game also boasts over 80 missions that range from search and rescue to test pilot scenarios, plus multiplayer support and recreations of over 24,000 airports.

The licensing deal with Microsoft, however, will prevent Dovetail Games from enhancing the graphics of the game, but it will include bug fixes and content from the Deluxe edition of the original title as well as the Acceleration Expansion Pack. According to the recent press release, a range of add-ons has been slated for release as well in 2015.
