NetEase Games has teased a major Season 8 addition to Marvel Rivals, bringing one of Marvel’s most iconic mutants, Cyclops, into the fight. The studio confirmed that the X-Men leader will join the hero shooter game’s roster, a move that sets the stage for a new chapter in its evolving universe.
X-Men fan-favorite Cyclops all set to join Marvel Rivals Season 8
The fan-favorite X-Men leader will make his Marvel Rivals debut in Season 8, marking the mutant field commander’s first appearance in the team-based hero shooter.
As per the official trailer, launching this Friday, May 15, the Sins of Alchemax update introduces Devil Dinosaur, a Vanguard hero and the fiftieth character added to NetEase’s roster. Cyclops is confirmed as well, with the X-Men leader expected to arrive later, around the mid-season update.
The one-eyed character will join Marvel Rivals at the Season 8 mid-season mark, likely before mid-June.
Cyclops, also called Scott Summers, is one of the original X-Men and usually leads the team in the field. He’s all about Professor Xavier’s goal of helping mutants and humans live together peacefully.
Cyclops first appeared in comics in 1963, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. He is seen as a “tortured hero” because of his uncontrollable powers, harsh upbringing in the orphanage, and heavy leadership burden.
As for Devil Dinosaur, players can access the Vanguard character as soon as the new season drops. Moreover, while Moon Girl appears in the trailer, it doesn’t confirm her implementation in-game.
The Season 8 update goes live at 00:00 UTC on Friday, May 15, 2026. This puts the release at 2 AM PT / 5 AM ET. For a full breakdown of ‘Sins of Alchemax’ release times, check the time zone chart below:
