Article: Playing an Underpowered Class Is One of the Worst Feelings in Gaming

Comment: DRK was never weak in FFXI, it was just perceived as such because of how slow they swung their weapons. If you missed once or god forbid twice in a row it made it look like you weren’t doing much damage. Which meant that most DRK would pile on as much ACC gear as they could, even going so far as to use ACC food instead of ATT food, which actually caused a drop in DD output. It was really an issue of player perception more so than a problem with the job itself. Though, it didn’t help that WAR/NIN dual wielding axes was more than a little bit OP at that time. Not that I minded one bit when SE introduced the two handed weapon buff.

On the subject of FFXIV, I’m really hoping they do something about DRG. The new DRG abilities are terrible.

Forum Thread: Official Diablo 3: Rise of the Necromancer Giveaway!

Comment: Favourite class was the Demon Hunter.

I found their dual hand crossbows really stupid, but crazy fun and at times, somewhat over powered. For me, it was an awesome feeling to walk into a room filled with monsters, then clear the room in less than a second.

I also liked how the Demon Hunter could do flips and shit.

Article: Seagate Game Drive Hub (8TB) for Xbox Review – Say Goodbye to Uninstalling Games

Comment: I currently use Western Digital Passport 4TB for my Xbox One. Even with over 50 games I have only used less than 10% of the available drive.

I hate having to do things externally. I wish I could swap the Xbox One internal drive for a 4, 5 or even 10TB internal drive… or even an SSD when prices decrease ont he same Samsung 4TB I have in my PC.

The USB 3.0 is fast on these things, but not as fast as the internal and definitely not as fast as an SSD.

My recommendation is to use these to backup OLD GAMES while the games you play regularly are kept on the internal.

What REALLY could have set this device apart is if it allowed you to partition the same drive as half for PS4 and half for Xbox One. wouldn’t even been nicer if the device could connect to both systems simultaneously.

Article: Diablo 3: Rise of the Necromancer Review – True to the Dark Spirit

Comment: A couple of my friends started playing Diablo 3 because Necromancer was coming. Just months after I played through it all… now another friend started playing it… I guess I have to join them when they get to same level as my character is for some coop fun. Darn it. 😀

By the way: is that male version of Diablo 3s Diablo on the header image???

Article: Tell GR: What’s Your Favorite Western RPG?

Comment: “Hollywood doesn’t make American movies anymore. Its revenues are only

maybe 30%-40% American. Its primary purpose right now is to make movies

that 20-year-old Chinese people want to see.” –James Schamus

That header image is promotional art for Lonesome Road. As DLC go I don’t think I’ve seen one more significantly misunderstood by the people who have actually played it. If you’re wondering if you do understand everything, here’s a pop quiz:

-What relevance does Renan’s idea of nationhood have in the plot and background of Lonesome Road?

If you can’t answer that question, hit the books.

I’ll put New Vegas as my genre topper for now. It’s an American game. I don’t think Bioware could have made New Vegas. Even Bethesda, also an American company, stumble in unintentionally hilarious ways when trying to pantomime the other Fallout games. Nothing from Europe or Japan is like it and the closest things to it are Fallout 1 and 2, which are also two deeply American games. It’s not just that Americans made them – it’s that American ideas and America itself, the immediate and the ideal America at the same time – drive its themes. The moral individualism implicit in the series’ backdrop from the first game (jettisoned in 3 and 4, in a litany of ways) is an idea which had existed from the time of Democritus but which didn’t capture the imagination of a people and form the basis of their beliefs until America.

Fallout is fundamentally a game about America, built for an American player base. Bethesda made international blockbusters in the same mold as Hollywood. I’m not sure that the former is essentially more praiseworthy than the latter, but I am very sure that as Bethesda’s interpretation of Fallout increasingly struggles to merit even sufficient attention to draw unmitigated scorn and contempt, there will always be a place for New Vegas, or something like it, in my library.

Comment: I think OG just dominating the Majors might have something to do with it. As far as TI invites are concerned, i would expect results of all Valve sponsored events to count (at the least).
