Tell GR | What video game is your guilty pleasure?

There are some games that we can’t get enough of despite them not being particularly well-liked. Even if we personally enjoy these games, others disliking them has granted them “guilty pleasure” status, where we almost feel bad for admitting that we’re a fan.

In today’s Tell GR, we want to know which video games is YOUR guilty pleasure. As always, leave your response in the comments section below, and we’ll feature our favorite in tomorrow’s Tell GR!

Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “The most recent guilty pleasure of mine has been Mario Kart Tour, which I sunk a shameful number of hours into. I even managed to overlook the microtransactions in favor of racking up those sweet combos.”

Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “My guilty pleasure is Space Engineers. I’ve probably spent more time with it than any other game I own on Steam. I usually just built ridiculous machines so I can build a bunch of tunnels on planets and asteroids. There’s something really cathartic about hollowing them out and building a secret base.”

Mack Ashworth, lead editor: The Walking Dead: Our World is my guilty pleasure. It’s a mobile game that mimics Pokémon Go, only with worse microtransactions that target “whales.” I get to shoot zombies, though!”

Michael Leri, features editor: “I have long since kicked the habit but I played far too much Mortal Kombat… on mobile. It only existed to give fans of Mortal Kombat X another avenue to spend more money, as it locked console skins behind grinding away endlessly that encouraged players to buy perks and enhancements. Luckily, I found an amazing glitch that gave me endless money, but I still didn’t stop playing it despite finding a shortcut. Day in and day out, I would find myself mindlessly tapping for no reason, earning coins I didn’t need in a game I didn’t like. I regret playing as much as I did.”

DJJ66: “Beast Wars Transformers on the PS1. Jesus that game was bad, and I played that shit all the way through so many times it’s not even funny.”
