October and November typically form the backbone of the holiday video game schedule, and this year is no different. The first week is chock full of winners, with Super Smash Bros. leading the way for the handheld market, NBA 2K15 and Skylanders Trap Team continuing its franchises in earnest, and Alien: Isolation plus DriveClub bringing two new IPs to the fold. Microsoft will also be handing various full editions for Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, and Ryse.
The middle of the month comes with several titles we've been anxiously waiting for: Bethesda's The Evil Within which I hope helps catapult survival-horror games to the forefront again, the in-between-quel Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and the second season for the Killer Instinct revival. And finally, Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved which seems like it's been in development forever.
The last week of the the month is quite dense as well with Bayonetta 2, which didn't fare so well in Japan but hopefully will see better luck as a Wii U-exclusive here in the States. I can't wait for both Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth and Sunset Overdrive, though WWE 2K15's revival of the career mode and challenging Lords of the Fallen tempt me as well.
