My Pet Shop Review

How much is that puppy in the window?

Note from GR’s Big Kahuna, Duke Ferris: For years we’ve been plagued with the problem of what to do with the kids games we get sent. There is no way on earth I can properly evaluate Barbie’s Horse Adventures. So in the past, we’ve done the obvious – sell them back to GameStop for heroin money.

However, a better answer has been staring us in the face: child labor. How do you review a game meant for a 12 year old girl? Give it to a 12 year old girl. GR is proud to present Monsoon’s review of My Pet Shop in her own words.

[image1]Want to learn how to trick animals into being captured? And then how to sell them? Well then you will love this game.

So you work for a little family pet shop with your mom. When there’s someone who needs a pet they give you the specifications and your mother sends you out to the various forests and woods in your town to find a pet that matches. You search the forest for  stray animals by rattling bushes and shaking trees till they pop out. Who knew? More then less you run into a beehive that steals your money or a bomb that if defused gives you some sort of fruit but when you actually find an animal it usually doesn’t fit the specifications. But when you finally find that perfect animal you have to trick it into coming with you.

You have the options of walking towards it or backing up,staying where you are, coaxing it with food or having your own pet come out and bark at it which mostly scares the  animal off. Beware coming too close too quick or not offering the right food. This can scare the animal and it will back away. After too  many examples of being ‘frighting’ the animal runs off, and you have to start all over in finding the perfect animal. *sigh*……..  Once you have the animal you need you name it and come back to the shop. Call the client and have them pick it up. You get paid and move on.

[image2]THE PEOPLE IN THIS TOWN ARE USELESS! The very next day after you gave your client their pet they come back with simple tasks that they want done for the pet LIKE FEEDING IT A TREAT! Why can’t they do that on their own I have no idea but you get paid so I guess its not all bad.

Rattling bushes and capturing the dogs and cats that fall out, defusing fruit bombs and getting jacked by a beehive aren’t what I think of when I think of running a pet shop.

The game isn’t difficult. Possibly frustrating but not hard. The controls are easy and its all simple tasks. It has a fresh clean appealing  look. The music isn’t very catchy. I don’t just end up humming it and there’s no cute voices with the little catchphrases.

Its not a terrible game I’ve seen worse but I can’t imagine playing it for more than 15 minutes at a time because you do the same thing over and over till you you get a tiny new addition like now I can brush the animals *yahootie!*….. You really never use much button pressing or any thing but aim and tap there’s the  occasional circle motion or back and forth but nothing innovative or surprisingly fun.

I wouldn’t recommend it but if it just looks so crazy awesome that you didn’t believe anything I just said at least buy it on sale or rent it.
