Fnatic Streak65 LP Keyboard Review: ‘The Best Just Got Even Better’

FNATIC STREAK65 LP KEYBOARD REVIEW FOR PC, PS5, PS4, XBOX SERIES X|S, AND XBOX ONE.

Last year, I reviewed the original Fnatic Streak65 and commended it for “putting gamers first.” I was happy to give it the Editors’ Choice award, though I did note how the keycaps should be given a rethink. Well, Fnatic has indeed given the keycaps a rethink and improved a lot more with the Streak65 LP. Let’s dive in!

It’s the little things

Out of the box, the experience is pretty similar. Though this time the cable has been upgraded to a coiled style, which is certainly on-trend right now. While it’s not as premium as aftermarket solutions, it was a nice surprise considering the price of the keyboard has only increased by $10.

Another big change I noticed as I took the board out of its protective sleeve was the change in keycap material. Fnatic has swapped out the slippery and shiny ABS keycaps for double-shot shine-through PBT keycaps. This is a huge improvement and I like to think it’s due to feedback from the community and reviewers.

Big on gaming

Looking beyond the cable and the keycaps, however, there are few differences between the OG and the LP, and that’s not a bad thing. The original did most things right and now the LP tightens things up further for an extremely capable gaming keyboard.

The 65% form factor is ideal for gaming, providing just enough functionality without taking up valuable space. Chopping off the number pad leaves more room for moving the mouse and also brings your arms closer for a less strained resting position.

Another big gamer-focused feature is the low profile switch used in the Streak65 LP. They are built for speed, with a short pre-travel time leading to fast actuation. This might not be the most satisfying switch to press when compared to other tactile options out there, but it’s arguably one of the best for competitive gaming.

Gamers who love RGB will be extremely happy with the Streak65 LP, especially if they opt for the new white variant, which boosts vibrancy to a whole other level. The RGB lighting and key functions can be tuned in the Fnatic software, which is simple and easy to use.

For non-gaming, too

So, the Fnatic65 LP is built for gamers and it doesn’t hide that fact, but this pre-built boasts a number of impressive features that would satisfy any keyboard enthusiast.

I’ve already mentioned the PBT keycaps as a major improvement over the original, but there’s also that coiled cable included in the box, a fantastic factory lube job on the stabilizers, an extra layer of sound dampening foam to help fill out any hollowness, and the aluminum construction that is light at 420 grams but also durable.

Fnatic has gone above and beyond with the Streak65 LP, producing a keyboard that’s first and foremost targeted at gaming and enhancing competitive play, while also being a legitimately great-sounding and good-feeling board type on.

The only potential downsides I can point towards are the lack of hotswappable switch support, though that’s perhaps understandable considering the limited low profile options out there, and the slightly cramped-feeling aesthetic, which is purely subjective and might just be a me thing! (I’m trying to be critical here, but Fnatic is making it very, very hard!)

Fnatic Streak65 LP Review: The final verdict

Fnatic Streak65 LP Review

At $119.99, the Fnatic Streak65 LP takes what made the original so great and makes it even better. For just a $10 premium over the original, I think Fnatic has done a wonderful job in fine-tuning the LP version to be one of the best gaming keyboards out there.

For those who are all about their games, whether on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox, and are happy to type on a low-profile board when not gaming, the Fnatic Streak65 LP is one of the best choices for 2022.
