The Boulies OP180 office chair takes a different direction from the gaming seat style chairs I’ve looked at in the past. This time around, Boulies is opting for a simple-looking office chair build, with a pure focus on comfort during long hours and dependable durability for the workplace. Of course, there’s still some adjustability to help make the chair fit the user’s individual needs. After two weeks of dedicated use for work and play, it’s time for my review.

Simple to build, the OP180 was ready to go in under 10 minutes. There are just six screws in total, with everything else slotting into place with ease.
Once it’s put together, the OP180 feels surprisingly solid. It features a high-quality mesh backrest with a thick seat pad, a combination that has worked well for me during long sitting periods.
The tilt mechanism feels reassuringly robust, and the 160kg rating is good to see. As a heavier user, I do sometimes worry about more fragile-looking chairs.

Once seated, it’s time to customize the various adjustable points. The seat height and depth have a good amount of range, as does the backrest. In terms of recline, the backrest supports angles between 79 and 103 degrees, which I think is a sensible range for office use, where you’re unlikely to recline closer to 180 degrees for a quick nap.
The detachable armrests can also be maneuvered into a desired position. I left them attached without issue, but it’s nice to have the option to remove them for compatibility with deeper desktops or similar issues.
Big chair wins

The biggest win for the OP180 is just how comfortable the chair is. It might not look like it, but this chair boasts a very impressive seat cushion that delivers comfort over long hours. The level of firmness is perfect, in my opinion.
I’m also a fan of the mesh backrest, which will surely come in useful when it starts to heat up again in the UK. I always prefer chairs that have that layer of breathability.
Build quality is also deserving of a highlight, as the entire chair feels high quality. There are no rickety parts or wobbly bits. It feels like a solid bit of kit that I expect to last a long time.
The downsides

When it comes to downsides, I have to mention the lack of adjustable lumbar support. While there is some support there, it’s extremely minimal. For a chair focused on satisfying ergonomics, I expected more.
I could also see the limited recline angle as a potential downside for those who want to go beyond 103 degrees. Personally, I’m not too interested in that, but some may feel this is a deal-breaker.

Final Verdict
At $289.99 — or $239.99 at the time of publishing — the Boulies OP180 offers good value for a no-nonsense office chair. It focuses on comfort, solid build quality, and practicality, rather than unnecessary extras or bold styling. While it won’t suit everyone’s ergonomic preferences, it does enough right to be a dependable choice for long workdays, especially at the discounted price.
