VIOFO A329S 3-Channel 4K Dash Cam review

VIOFO A329S 3-Channel 4K Dash Cam

The VIOFO A329S 3-channel 4K dash cam is for drivers looking to record the front, rear, and cabin of their vehicle in high resolution. This is a premium setup for drivers serious about security. Is it no-compromise enough to justify the price tag? Here is my review.

All the angles

As mentioned in the intro, the main highlight of the A329S is the 3-channel recording, with all three channels offering high resolution. The front camera offers the highest resolution with 4K support, while the rear and cabin cameras capture in 2K.

I was happy to see that all three cameras use Sony’s STARVIS 2 sensors, which traditionally perform better than the competition when it comes to darker scenes. Obviously, for those who drive at night, this is a big win.

While I’ve checked out other 3-channel dash cams before, the A329S has a standout feature in the aggressive angle of the cabin camera. With a 210-degree lens, this camera is able to cover all of the cabin and some of the sides of the vehicle, making it even more useful.

Other highlights include the HDR mode, WiFi 6, GPS, parking modes, voice controls, and support for storage up to 4 TB. With these features, the A329S feels up-to-date on the must-haves when it comes to a modern dash cam.

Big on quality

The A329S’ biggest achievement is its camera quality. The 4K/2K/2K combo works well to provide high-detail footage that lower-end dash cams simply can’t. For those who value being able to make out road signs, registration plates, faces, and other often critical details, then the extra resolution will be highly beneficial.

The camera quality also holds up at night, with the aforementioned STARVIS 2 sensors helping. Enable the HDR mode, and nighttime footage becomes much more usable.

I experienced no issues with capture, and the footage always came out looking as good, if not better, than I expected. For those demanding quality capture, the A329S will have you covered.

Set time aside for setup

The main downside of the A329S is the setup process. Being a 3-channel system means setting up and connecting three cameras. Combine that with the task of hardwiring the dash cam to fully unlock the parking protection feature, and it can become quite the task. Of course, once it’s done, it’s done, so it’s only an initial, temporary headache.

Final Verdict

At $499.99, though currently discounted to $469.99, the VIOFO A329S is clearly a premium dash cam, but its strong camera quality, wide coverage, and useful modern features help justify the cost. Setup takes some effort, but once installed, it delivers a reliable and capable recording experience. For drivers who want more than basic protection, the A329S is an easy recommendation.
