EA Already Set to Publish Titanfall Sequel? Coming to PS4? [Update]

[Update] An inside source has confirmed to Polygon that Titanfall 2 will be published by EA, going on to add that this alleged sequel won't be exclusive to Xbox and PC, implying that a PS4 version is in the cards as well.

Of course, until Electronic Arts makes an official announcement, we'll have to treat this as mere rumor.

[Original] Like the original, which hit store shelves just last weekTitanfall 2 will reportedly be published by Electronic Arts.

An unnamed source has told GameSpot that EA has secured the rights to Respawn Entertainment's still unannounced sequel. Titanfall has been the subject of a lot of attention and critical acclaim as of late, serving as one of the PC and Xbox One's biggest releases of 2014.

I'd be willing to bet that Titanfall sold more than enough to meet Electronic Arts' week one expectations, cementing it a permanent place in the publisher's portfolio. That said, Respawn has not yet confirmed the existence of Titanfall 2 (never mind its publisher), so take this report with a grain of salt.

Earlier today it was revealed that the Xbox 360 version, which is being handled by Bluepoint Games, has been delayed to April 8th. I wonder how many folks are still waiting for the last-gen port.
