Call of Duty WW2 Microtransactions Supply Drops Premium Currency

Call of Duty WW2 Premium Currency Supply Drops Pushed to Next Week

Call of Duty WW2 was to receive the implementation of its premium currency system this week. However, due to significant launch issues, including servers being down for hours on end, Sledgehammer and Activision have postponed the launch of CoD Points (CP) and purchasing loot crates for premium currency until next week.

CoD WW2 will allow players to purchase CoD Points with real money, which can then be used in microtransactions to buy supply crates which contain cosmetic items and XP boosts. This game is supposed to make opening loot crates a social event with the new Headquarters social mode. Each of the up to 42 players in your HQ can watch as you open a supply drop and see what you got. At least, that’s how it’s supposed to work in theory.

In practice, the Call of Duty WW2 launch has been disastrous. Matchmaking for Headquarters mode has been turned off to lessen the amount of strain on the game’s servers, so instead of teeming with life, there will only ever be one person in your HQ: you. You can invite people off your friends list to your HQ, but given that it’s a social space that’s supposed to be fun to drop by in between matches, it kind of defeats the purpose to have to go out of your way to invite all your buddies.

Fans who purchased the Deluxe Edition of Call of Duty WW2 will receive 1,100 CP when the premium purchases go live on November 21. Additionally, Sledgehammer has said CP will be available to earn in-game, but details of how that will work haven’t been released yet.
