Breath of the Wild glitch

This Zelda: Breath of the Wild Glitch is Game-Changing for Speed-Runners

Nothing quite says ‘gotta go fast’ than this Breath of the Wild glitch. That’s right, a glitch has been found that is completely game-changing for speed-runners, and all you need is a well-placed object, the paraglider, and the ability, Stasis. It seems like a recipe for some crazy hijinks, but as of now, it is seen as an innovative way to travel across the huge map of Breath of the Wild at the speed of light. Or at least a little closer to that speed anyway. The glitch was discovered by two Twitch streamers named Wolfhaiksong19 and Raisinurns, both of them having speedran Breath of the Wild in the past.

The glitch, currently titled as The Super Speed Launch, occurs when you place Link on an object that has been hit with Stasis. Link then has to hit the object as far as it can possibly go before the Stasis wears off, because when it does – vroom! Link flies through the air at a speed that can only be titled as ridiculous, and only then does the player use their paraglider. You’ll soon discover that you’ve got the glitch by seeing if Link is speeding throughout Hyrule as though he has a rocket attached to him, and if he is? Congratulations, you’ve got the Super Speed Launch glitch. You can see the glitch for yourself below:

This Breath of the Wild glitch is particularly advantageous for speed-runners, though there has been some trouble in getting it to occur in the Nintendo Switch version of the game. While not concrete information, Redditor iZant shared a theory on the Speedrun forum about how the glitch may work. They said “our main lead is that this is caused by lag frames. Upon analysis of video clips of the glitch, it was noted that there was a consistent frame drop happening around the time that link pulled the paraglider.” They continued to theorize that “upon further testing of this, it was found that this glitch was easier to do in laggy areas of the game, most notably on the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild.”

So, unfortunately, it seems as though this is a trick that’s harder to pull off on the Nintendo Switch version due to a lack of lag. However, that won’t stop some players from trying to find ways to exploit it anyway, particularly speed-runners.
