Amazon Adds $50 Credit To PS Vita Purchases; Is a Price Drop Imminent?

The Vita is still struggling more than a year after its release. But then again, so was the 3DS when priced at $249. We all know what it took to get that ball rolling.

A week before E3 Amazon has introduced a great deal for the PlayStation Vita's Wi-Fi and 3G SKUs. Included is a $50 Amazon credit that can be used on almost anything on the site including Vita games. The 3G bundle in particular is a fantastic deal that includes a 4GB memory card, Unit 13, and 1-year of PlayStation Plus. Games such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush are still available to those with a subscription.

In a way this deal is a price drop, and its timing leads to a great question: will Sony drop the price of the PS Vita's Wi-Fi bundle to $199 at E3? The system is performing below average but still has a chance to build a sizeable market. Features such as its upcoming remote play standard with PS4 games make it an awfully tasteful solution. Its greatest barrier has been its price point which includes its ludicrous proprietary memory cards. Despite how much everyone dogs the Vita for its poor sales, it's still doing better than the Wii U. Not that that's difficult to do or anything.
