Destiny 2 doesn’t work with AMD Ryzen 3000 series, players complain

A lot of Destiny 2 players are probably thinking about upgrading to the new AMD Ryzen 3000 series CPUs, but looks like these processors don’t play nice with Bungie’s sci-fi world. Comments have appeared online indicating that Destiny 2 doesn’t work with AMD Ryzen 3000 series, with players taking to Reddit in order to complain about a variety of different issues centered around the AMD Ryzen 3000 series specifically.

With around 6,000 upvotes, u/Trinsikk’s post on Reddit details the issues. Primarily, it seems that the game simply doesn’t run on PCs built around the newly-released Ryzen 3000 series of CPUs. Trinsikk explains that Destiny 2 “does not work on pc with the new Ryzen 3000 series… After clicking the play button on battlenet it says the game is running and the Destiny 2 exe will show up in task manager but only shows that it’s using 5-10% CPU but it never will start.”

It seems as though the error is affecting all variants of the new Ryzen 3000 series processors, at least based around the comments found throughout the Reddit thread. It appears, too, that no matter what anyone does to try and fix the issue, nothing changes. Destiny 2 doesn’t work with the Ryzen 3000 series as of writing. Of course, this is most annoying for anyone who has already upgraded to the new CPUs and just wants to play some Destiny 2.

Bungie and AMD will no doubt be made aware of the issue, and the problem may boil down to a driver or bios issue.  The 3000 CPUs are nearly brand-new, after all, and there are always speedbumps with new technology. Unfortunately, neither Bungie nor AMD has commented on the issues just. Hopefully the AMD Ryzen 3000 issues will be fixed before long and Destiny 2 players will get back into the game. Cross those fingers and toes that a fix for the bug will turn up soon, Guardians.
