Unlike with past title updates, the latest Madden 20 patch notes don’t include too many changes. There are no player adjustments or roster tweaks, nor has the balance changed between any athletes. Instead, this update mainly goes after general stability improvements and a couple of bug fixes.

Chief among the March 26, 2020 title update details are general stability improvements. We know, there’s not much to go on there. Aside from that, the rest of the update is focused on gameplay. The developers have addressed an exploit that involved flipping plays when using the I-Form Tight formation. This strategy should now work as intended, though certainly with less predictable results.

The developers have also addressed a calculation error when dealing with three abilities; Matchup Nightmare, Backfield Mismatch and Backfield Master. Specifically, the fix prevents “double damage from always being calculated correctly.” This problem was reportedly spotted by eagle-eyed fans throughout the Madden community.

In case you want the official scoop, here are the full Madden 20 patch notes for the title update released on March 26, 2020, as provided by the team at Electronic Arts.

Franchise Updates

  • General stability improvements

Gameplay Updates

  • Fixed an issue in the I-Form Tight formations that allowed the offense to disrupt defensive alignment by sending a receiver in motion and then flipping the play, leading to an exploit.
  • Fixed an issue causing a miscalculation of nearby defenders with the Matchup Nightmare, Backfield Mismatch and Backfield Master abilities.
    • DEV NOTE: The issue we fixed specifically prevented double coverage from always being calculated correctly, which unbalanced these abilities. Previously, we updated the MUT Salary Cap cost of these abilities to 999 until we could get the fix out, and now that it is fixed, the Cap cost for each will return to their original values. BIG thank you to the Madden community for pointing this out. The feedback we received on these abilities allowed us to quickly investigate and respond.
