New World 'E' key interactions not working

How to fix New World ‘E’ key interactions not working glitch

New World, the brand-new MMORPG from Amazon Game Studios, is experiencing some teething problems. Many PC players are encountering the New World “E” key interactions not working bug; this annoying glitch can stop players from progressing, essentially softlocking their characters. Fortunately, there is a quick and easy fix for the broken interaction prompt issue.

Here’s how to solve the New World broken interaction prompt bug on PC:

  1. Close the New World game application.
  2. Delete the “savedata” folder found under C:Users[UserName]AppDataRoamingAGSNew World.
    • Note: Replace [UserName] with the relevant player title.
  3. Launch New World and start to play with the default key bindings.

According to the New World developers, this workaround “has shown some promise” in fixing the interaction issue. It’s worth noting that this isn’t a guaranteed solution, however. The dev team is currently “hunting down the full source” in an effort to implement a complete fix. A future New World update should address “E” key interactions not working for keyboard users, so try to be patient.

As a new MMO game, New World bugs and glitches are sure to occur at launch. Some users can’t initialize the game, others are having proximity chat trouble, while, most commonly, players are facing never-ending queues. All of these issues are frustrating, but also par for the course with the launch of an all-new MMORPG. In time, the player base will level out and the game will become more stable — this will likely result in a smoother experience for everyone.

Take a look at the New World DLC roadmap so far, which is certain to continue growing over the course of the game’s lifespan.
