Keychron has launched three new lightweight mice: the G3, G4, and G5. In this review, I’m looking at the G5, which is the most featherweight option in the lineup. At just 43 grams, it immediately grabs attention, especially for competitive players who want a mouse that feels quick, responsive, and easy to move. But does that make it the best of the three? Here is my review.
Built for speed

The G5 is built around the PixArt 3950 sensor, which is exactly what I want to see from a premium gaming mouse. It supports up to an 8K polling rate in 2.4 GHz wireless and wired USB-C modes, while also offering Bluetooth connectivity.
I’ve been testing the black version, which uses ABS and carbon fiber construction, including a carbon fiber top cover and primary buttons. That helps keep the weight incredibly low, while still giving the mouse a sturdy feel. There’s also a textured pattern across the shell, adding some extra grip without relying on open holes.

The shape is where the G5 makes its intentions clear. It has a more balanced hump placement and a narrower body than the G3, which should suit players who prefer a more compact, controlled feel. For those who like fast fingertip or claw-style movements, the G5 makes a lot of sense.
Customization is once again handled through Keychron’s browser-based Launcher. There’s no software download needed, and you can adjust DPI, polling rate, macros, lift-off distance, profiles, and more. Battery life is also strong, with Keychron claiming up to 37 hours at 8K, 153 hours at 1K, and 162 hours over Bluetooth.
Big speed and a shape to consider

In games, the G5 performs extremely well. The PixArt 3950 tracks accurately, the Huano switches feel crisp, and the 43-gram weight makes the mouse feel incredibly easy to throw around. Fast turns, small adjustments, and quick lifts all feel natural.
The shape will be the deciding factor for many users. The narrower middle gives the G5 a more agile feel, but it won’t be perfect for everyone. With larger hands, I still preferred the wider support of the G3. However, that’s more about fit than performance.

It’s also nice to see replacement skates and dot skates included in the box, especially at this price.

Final Verdict
At $109.99, the Keychron G5 is a brilliant lightweight gaming mouse for players who want the fastest-feeling option in Keychron’s new trio. It has the premium build, excellent sensor, strong wireless and wired performance, and ultra-low weight to justify its price. It didn’t quite beat the G3 for my own hand, but for the right grip style, the G5 could easily be the star of the lineup.
