In this 5th mainline installment of Metal Gear Solid saga, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain follows the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, depicting the downfall of the legendary mercenary “Big Boss” (formerly known as “Naked Snake”, “John” or “Jack”) while connecting the story lines from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes to the events of the original MSX games Metal Gear (1987) and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990).
