Sea of Thieves Kraken: How to Find its Location and Kill It and What Loot and Reward You Get

The Kraken is the most significant danger you’ll face in Sea of Thieves. Figuring out how to kill the Kraken can be hard since you’ll likely be panicking as it whallops your ship. If you’re looking for a bit of adventure though, you might want to know how to find its location. Below we’ve got the info you need to find the Kraken and beat it in Sea of Thieves.

How to Find the Kraken Location in Sea of Thieves

To find the Kraken, you’re going to have to be patient. As far as we can tell, the monster has no set spawn locations. Instead, it lurks in the ocean to attack unsuspecting ships. One thing is for sure though; the Kraken will only appear when you’re in deeper waters. If you’re in shallow water, like that around an island, then you’re likely safe from attack.

There are some telltale signs when you’re near the location of a Kraken in Sea of Thieves. You’ll see the beast’s giant tentacles begin to encircle the boat, and the water about the Kraken will be black and inky. Once you see that, you can be sure the Kraken is about to attack.

How to Fight and Kill the Kraken in Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves How to Beat the Kraken

First and foremost, when you’re fighting the Kraken in Sea of Thieves, try not to panic. You’re not going to beat the monster unless your crew works as a unit. This fight is easiest if you’re sailing with a four-man crew in a Galleon. If you’re floating alone, you’re gonna have a much tougher time, but if you move fast, you can do it. Since most people are going to be sailing on a Galleon this guide will be geared towards that type of fight.

When the fight starts, you need to designate one crew member to just repair damage. The Kraken is going to be slamming your boat about, and if someone isn’t staying on top of leaks, you’ll be sunk in no time.

The rest of the crew should equip themselves with cutlasses and Eye of Reach rifles. To kill the Kraken, you have to take down each tentacle individually. Attacking anywhere on them does damage, but their weak point is at the tip where the tentacle splits into a mouth-looking orifice.

When the Kraken attacks in Sea of Thieves, don’t skimp on wood, bananas, or cannonballs in your attempt to defeat it. Have a crew member man the cannons on each side of the ship and fire at the tentacles, while the remaining player of the four fires on the Kraken’s weak spot with their rifle.

Every once in a while the Kraken will slam the boat with its tentacle. When that happens, the three characters not repairing need to run to it and start hacking away as fast as they can with cutlasses. Be wary though; the Kraken can pick players up and throw them in the ocean or slam them on the deck, so you’ll need to make sure everyone has plenty of bananas to heal up.

Kraken Loot and Reward: Kraken Good Time Achievement

Well, so you’ve killed the Kraken in Sea of Thieves. You’d think you’d get a shiny chest or something for your trouble. Unfortunately, the only thing you get from beating the Kraken is the “Kraken Good Time” achievement. If you’re a completionist, then that will likely make your day. However, if you were fighting the Kraken for loot, then you’re going to be disappointed.
