Octopath Traveler: How to Transfer Demo Save

There have been a number of Octopath Traveler demos available to download on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Each one has given us a decent taste of the full game to come. The most recent demo — the Prologue Demo — allows us to try out each of the eight playable characters. Indeed, in Octopath Traveler, there are eight characters to choose from. Each one has their own backstory and unique gameplay trait; depending on who we choose alters the story that little bit. Offering up around three hours of gameplay, the Prologue Demo allows us to play through each of the prologue chapters for all eight characters. We can then transfer our Octopath Traveler demo save file to the full version of the game upon its July 13 release date.

How to Transfer Octopath Traveler Demo Save Files

Octopath Traveler releases on Friday, but there are already a bunch of questions regarding the big throwback RPG. One of the most pertinent, however, is how to transfer over Octopath Traveler demo save files? The answer, as it turns out, is rather simple. No one wants to replay content they’ve already beaten, so if you have played the Prologue Demo, let us guide you in how to transfer over the save file.

First, you need to own a copy of Octopath Traveler. Boot up the game on your Switch and the game will automatically ask you if you want to transfer your demo save data over to the full game. If you don’t see this message somehow, there is an option within the game’s main menu that lets you transfer your save data too. If you’ve played through multiple Octopath Traveler demos, just choose the save file you want to transfer. All of your stats, recruited characters, equipment and story progress will be accounted for upon starting the game.

After transferring your save files across, you can go ahead and delete the demos, saving on precious storage data. Octopath Traveler releases exclusively on Switch July 13.
