Are you ready for a brand-spanking-new Fortnite mode to ease you into Fortnite season five? Maybe easing you in is the wrong turn of phrase as the leaked reveal of the Fortnite Tactics Showdown LTM promises to put a completely fresh twist on the battle royale and could, possibly, be the template for esports games to come. I’m looking at you, Fortnite Summer Skirmish.
What is Fortnite Tactics Showdown LTM?
Orgiinally leaked as part of the Fortnite 4.4 patch notes, Fortnite Tactics Showdown LTM is going to be a new limited-time mode (i.e. only around for roughly a week) that focuses on a more survivalist aspect of the game. Just read the leaked notes for yourself:
‘This mode encourages tactical combat and building by putting a cap on the amount of resources and ammunition players can carry. Player-built structures also start off with less health than normal, and when players are eliminated they will drop fewer resources than normal’ (h/t FortniteINTEL).
So, in layman’s terms, you’re going to be given less ammo than ever before, so every shot must count. That, when coupled with the lack of resources that players can carry, will mean there will be a real rough-and-tumble shootout for each of the mode’s limited weapons. It could be a fantastic addition, if done right.
When is the Fortnite Tactics Showdown LTM Release Date?
As of right now, there isn’t a definitive release date. However, with the uncovering of a new image (which you can see below), Fortnite Tactics Showdown, in all likelihood, shouldn’t be more than a few weeks away. Expect a late July-early August release date for this limited-time mode.
Fortnite Tactics Showdown LTM First-Look:
As, again, revealed by FortniteINTEL, a new Fortnite Tactics Showdown LTM image has sprouted up. Here it is:
We can see two competitors fighting off (presumably) the last crate around. It could be one of the more stressful, heart-pounding modes yet. Are you looking forward to it?
