Overwatch League Season 2 Transfers: Key Dates

August 1, 2018

Provisional transfer window opens. Teams can negotiate the contracts of current players and sign players from their respective Overwatch Contenders team. No players can be bought at this time, but players can be traded.

September 9, 2018

All players not signed to a contract become free agents in the transfer market.

September 9–October 7, 2018

New Overwatch League teams (Atlanta, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Paris, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington D.C.) are given first choice of free agents. Inaugural season teams cannot yet add free agents to their roster.

Oct. 8, 2018

Remaining free agents can be signed by any team, including inaugural season teams.

Dec. 1, 2018

Players must meet the Overwatch League’s minimum roster requirement of eight contracted players by this point.

Overwatch League Season 2 Start Date

Although no official start date for Overwatch League Season 2 has been announced yet, Season 1 started on January 10, 2018. It is therefore safe to assume that Stage 1 of Season 2 will likely start within the first two weeks of January 2019, and will run up until June 2019.
