Pokemon Let's Go Meltan Tasks

Pokémon Let’s Go Meltan Tasks – All Pokémon Go Meltan Tasks

There’s a new Pokemon in both Pokemon Go and Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Evee, and it’s the curious fellow known as Meltan. It’s a weird Ditto-like metal blob with a giant nut for an eye. Matching the creature’s interesting look is the way it’s caught, which requires both Pokemon Let’s Go on the Nintendo Switch and Pokemon Go on mobile as well as the completion of a series of tasks. But what are the Pokemon Let’s Go Meltan tasks, and how easy are they to complete?

There are a number of stages to the Let’s Go Meltan Special Research tasks mission, and they all have to be completed in Pokemon Go in order to catch Meltan in Pokemon Let’s Go. What makes things even tougher is that there’s a time limit on this, and you have to complete the Pokémon Let’s Go Meltan tasks before November 27 at 1pm PST. Presumably Meltan will still be around after that time, but getting him will become more complicated. Here’s what you’ll need to do to complete this tough quest.

Which Pokemon You Need for the Let’s Go Meltan Tasks

There are a number of Pokemon you’ll need to have caught, either already or during the event, in order to complete the Meltan tasks. These Pokemon are Anorith, Magnemite, Drowzee, Grimer and Scyther, so make sure to get at least one of each if you see them in the wild, even if you haven’t got to the appropriate task yet. You’ll also need to evolve all of them during the Meltan tasks, so be sure to stock up on plenty of Candy to do so.

You’ll also need to catch a Ditto and an Aerodactyl, and the best way to do that is by having their appropriate Field Research Tasks. Here’s the three encounters you’ll need:

  • Ditto: Make an excellent throw
  • Scyther: Evolve 2 Anorith
  • Aerodactyl: Hatch 2 eggs

All Pokemon Let’s Go Meltan Tasks and Rewards

Pokemon Let's Go Meltan

Task 1

  • Spin 5 Gyms or PokeStops
  • Catch 10 random Pokemon
  • Transfer 10 random Pokemon

Rewards: 1500 XP, 1000 Stardust, 5 PokeBalls, 1 Egg Incubator

A simple beginning, none of this should cause you any trouble as long as you haven’t just started in Pokemon Go. Make note of the Egg Incubator, as that will be useful in the next task.

Task 2

  • Earn 2 Candies walking with your buddy Pokemon
  • Make 10 great throws
  • Hatch 3 eggs

Rewards: 3000 XP, 2000 Stardust, 2 Lucky Eggs, 1 Fast TM

The Egg Incubator will help with the hatching part, and the great throws you’ll just have to keep trying, but otherwise this is another easy task. The hardest is earning those Candies, as you’ll have to get some walking done for that. Switch to a Pokemon with a short distance to make this easier on yourself.

Task 3

  • Catch a Ditto
  • Win 2 gym battles
  • Battle in 2 Raids

Rewards: 4500 XP, 10 Great Balls, 3 Incense, 3 Max Revives

The gym battles and Raids are easy, if a little time-consuming. You’ll probably need a Premium Raid Pass to do the Raids in time, rather than the one-day regular pass, and you’ll be doing a few more Raids during this event too. The Ditto part is the most complicated bit. As mentioned above, catching that Ditto is where you’ll need that special Field Research Task, so hopefully you’ve found it by now. Check PokeStops constantly if you haven’t. After that you’ll just have to land an excellent throw, so hopefully you’ve been practicing.

Task 4

  • Catch 5 Steel-type Pokemon
  • Catch 5 Electric-type Pokemon
  • Earn 5 Candies walking with your buddy Pokemon

Rewards: 6000 XP, 4000 Stardust, 5 Pinap Berries, 5 Rare Candies

Engage in some more walking here for those Candies. After that you’ll just have to keep looking for Steel and Electric-type Pokemon, such as Magnemite and Pikachu. They seem to be appearing more during the Let’s Go event, so this task shouldn’t be too much trouble.

Task 5

  • Evolve a Grimer
  • Catch 5 Gulpin or Slugma
  • Make 20 great throws

Rewards: 7500 XP, 5,000 Stardust, 20 Great Balls, 5 Lure Modules

You’ve been practicing those throws, right? Hopefully you have, since you’ll need to make 20 great throws. As for the three Pokemon, Gulpin, Slugma, and Grimer should all be fairly common during the event. Grimer you can already own, you only need to evolve them once, and the other two just need to be caught.

Task 6

  • Evolve a Magnemite
  • Catch 5 Exeggcute
  • Battle in 10 Raids

Rewards: 9000 XP, 1 Silver Pinap Berry, 1 Metal Coat, 10 Ultra Balls

Still got a Premium Raid Pass? You’ll need it, since you’ll need to do 10 Raids for this task. You should have enough Magnemite Candy just from exploring, so it should be easy to evolve Magnemite. Exeggcute are common during the Let’s Go event, so you should have no trouble finding and catching them.

Task 7

  • Evolve 1 Drowzee
  • Evolve 1 Scyther
  • Catch 1 Cubone

Rewards: 10500 XP, 10 Ultra Balls, 1 Charged TM, 3 Premium Raid Passes

The next two tasks are all about catching and evolving Pokemon. We presume you stocked up on Candies beforehand, and now it’s time to spend them. If you haven’t encountered Scyther yet, remember the Field Research Task we mentioned above. Cubone can just be found in the wild, so get looking. You only need to catch one.

Task 8

  • Catch 2 Lileep or Anorith
  • Catch 2 Kabuto or Omanyte
  • Catch 1 Aerodactyl

Rewards: 12000 XP, 8000 Stardust, Meltan Encounter, 1 Star Piece

So nice of them to give us a choice. As mentioned, Aerodactyl can be encountered through the final Field Research Task, so as long as you have it just hatch two eggs and catch it. The rest are all fairly common during the event, so catch ’em all.

Task 9

  • Claim Rewards

Rewards: 13500 XP, 9000 Stardust, 1 Super Incubator, 5 Meltan Candy

Yes, the final task is to simply claim all rewards, so Meltan is now yours! You can now transfer it to Pokemon Let’s Go, or get 400 Meltan Candies in Pokemon Go to evolve it into Melmetal first. You can’t evolve the guy in the Switch game, so it may be wiser to get Melmetal before you do. That is, if you want to evolve him…
