Smash Bros Ultimate newcomers are hard at work getting all of the game’s 74 playable characters. One of the toughest to get, however, is Dark Samus. Here’s how to unlock Dark Samus in Smash Ultimate.
How to Unlock Dark Samus in Smash Ultimate Classic Mode
Funnily enough, to unlock Dark Samus in Classic Mode, you will need to start with normal Samus. Play through her adventure until you are challenged to a battle by Inkling. If you beat Inkling, you will unlock them and add them to your roster.
Once you have Inkling, you have to run through this Adventure Mode with them—or Samus—until you fight Wii Fit Trainer right at the end. Beat her to unlock her. Repeat this process all the way through until you have unlocked Pit and Incineroar too.
Play through Classic Mode one last time with any of the above and, at the end of this final run, Dark Samus will challenge you to a fight. Beat her in combat to unlock her. If you fail, you will get another chance to get her via a rematch in the Challenger’s Approach area of the “Games and more” section of Smash Ultimate.
How to Unlock Dark Samus in Smash Ultimate World of Light Mode
This is by far the most taxing way to unlock Dark Samus in Smash Ultimate. You won’t come across her in World of Light mode until the final battle. If you’re a sucker for a challenge, however, then read on to find out how to get her. We should warn you that spoilers for World of Light are coming up, so only read on if you aren’t bothered at the ending being spoiled for you.
Still with us? Good. You will have to have headed to the dark realm, to have beaten Dharkon and entered the final realm, which houses the final four unlockable characters. This new area contains crazy hands, spirits, and other characters. Simply head down the path to your left, immediately from your starting position, and you’ll run into Dark Samus. Beat her to unlock her.
