Fortnite Planes Gone | Have X-4 Stormwing Planes been removed?

As we are welcoming the tides of another new Fortnite season, in-game changes are afoot. Fortnite Season 8 will bring with it plenty of new changes and this includes the Fortnite X-4 Stormwing Planes. The X-4 Stormwing Planes have been something of a controversial topic in Fortnite, with Epic Games applying plenty of nerfs to them since they were added in. Now, though, are the Fortnite Planes gone and vaulted? Read on to find out.

Are the Fortnite Planes Gone?

While they aren’t gone right now, the Fortnite planes will be gone soon. Epic Games has confirmed via a Reddit AMA (thanks to FortniteIntel) that it will vault the X-4 Stormwing Planes as soon as Season 8 begins. Fortnite Season 8 is set to begin very soon, as Season 7 comes to a screeching halt on February 28, 2018. The official word is “Planes will be vaulted at the start of Season 8. Get your airtime in now!”

While some of you will be unhappy with Epic Game’s decision to remove the X-4 Stormwing Planes, plenty of you will be dancing the streets with joy. The planes in Fortnite were controversial from day one.

Fortnite Planes Gone | Will the X-4 Stormwing Planes return?

Fortnite Planes Gone

With the vaulting of the X-4 Stormwing Planes, there isn’t a replacement airplane on the way anytime soon. For the remainder of Season 8, at least, you won’t be able to hop aboard an airplane and take to the skies, discounting temporary comebacks in LTMs. This is because they were a problematic inclusion for many when they were introduced. The X-4s were constantly on the end of various nerfs. The recent 7.40 update, for example, removed the X-4’s ability to break through large objects and structures.

It doesn’t seem at all likely that the X-4 Stormwings will ever return, unfortunately. Seen by many as the face of Fortnite, Ninja threatened to quit Fortnite as long as the Fortnite planes remained. He’ll be happy with the removal of the Fortnite planes, anyway.
