We are now in the midst of Fortnite Season 8. The pirate-themed season brings with it plenty of new changes and challenges. We’re here today, however, to take a look at the Fortnite Season 8 Week 1 challenges. The beginning of Season 8 brings with it your standard mixture of three free challenges and four Battle Pass challenges one of the biggest of which is finding all the Fortnite pirate camp locations.
If you want a one-stop shop for all your Season 8 Week 1 challenges, this is the guide for you. This Fortnite Season 8 Week 1 challenges cheat sheet will let you in on all you need to know in order to complete each of the seven challenges this week. Read on if you want to know how to complete them all and for a pirate camp locations map. Doing so will unlock the Discovery #01 Loading Screen. Remember, too, that the Battle Pass challenges this week are available for free if you completed 13 of the 20 Overtime challenges.
Fortnite Season 8 Week 1 Challenges Cheat Sheet | Visit all Pirate Camps
The first of the free challenges has you visiting all Pirate Camps on the Fortnite map. There are seven in total. You will be able to do this in as many matches as it takes you, however. This is good, as you can see in the map above, the seven Pirate Camps are rather spread apart (highlighted with red circles). Thankfully, the Pirate Camps are easy to spot. The large, shoddy wooden structures are adorned with a skull and crossbones flag.
You simply have to get near to each of the Pirate Camps with this one. There is no sort of interaction or anything here. Completing this challenge will earn you five Battle Stars.
We’ll say this here, but it goes for every Fortnite challenge. You must either win or die in a match of Fortnite for any challenge progress to count. If you quit a match before you die or win, any challenge progress will not count.
Fortnite Season 8 Week 1 Challenges Cheat Sheet | Search Chests at Retail Row or Junk Junction
In order to complete this challenge, you will need to find and open seven treasure chests in either Retail Row or Junk Junction. There are plenty of chests to go around, but be wary of other players who may be waiting at known locations in order to bag a few kills. Retail Row will have more chests hidden in its many buildings, but you may find more enemies there than in Junk Junction.
Once you have found and opened seven chests in either Retail Row or Junk Junction, the challenge will be completed and you will bag yourself five Battle Stars.
Fortnite Season 8 Week 1 Challenges Cheat Sheet | Stage 1 of 3: Deal damage with a Shotgun and an Explosive Weapon in a single match
The last of the free challenges is a three-stage one. Thankfully, it is simple to complete. The three stages of this challenge are as follows:
- Stage one: Deal damage with a Shotgun and an Explosive Weapon in a single match
- Stage two: Deal damage with a Pistol and an Assault Rifle in a single match
- Stage three: Deal damage with a Submachine Gun and Sniper Rifle in a single match
Completing each stage will award you with one Battle Star each time, for a total of three. Just make sure you have the correct weapons and shoot someone (dealing 300 damage in total) with both in a single match to complete the stages and then the challenge.
Fortnite Season 8 Week 1 Challenges Cheat Sheet | Visit a giant face in the desert, the jungle, and the snow
There are three giant faces carved into hills that can be found on the Fortnite map. You don’t need to visit them in any particular order, however. You’ll find them if you head to the highlighted areas in the map above.
To make things easier for you, however, you will find the three giant faces on the sides of hills. The giant face in the desert is on the tall mountain nearby to the unnamed town to the east of the gas station. You’ll find the giant face in the jungle to the east of Sunny Steps. Finally, you will find the giant face in the snow to the south of the industrial area that contains a dance club (this giant face is made of ice). Completing this challenge will award you with five Battle Stars.
Fortnite Season 8 Week 1 Challenges Cheat Sheet | Use a Volcano Vent in different matches
To complete this challenge (which will award you with, you guessed it, five Battle Stars), you will need to use a Volcano Vent in five different matches. You will find these scattered around the volcano. You will need to look for a hole in the ground surrounded by broken rock, with a jet-stream of wind shooting out. Walking or running over one will shoot you up into the air, from where you can begin to glide. Thankfully, you can use the same Volcano Vent in all five of the different matches if you so wish.
Fortnite Season 8 Week 1 Challenges Cheat Sheet | Get an elimination with a Shotgun, Assault Rifle, and Explosive Weapon
This will likely prove a difficult challenge to complete, despite its straightforward nature. You will need to get an elimination with a Shotgun, Assault Rifle, and Explosive Weapon in order to complete the challenge and earn ten Battle Stars. Presumably, you will be able to complete this challenge in either one match or as many as it takes.
Fortnite Season 8 Week 1 Challenges Cheat Sheet | Deal damage to a vehicle driven by an opponent
Another perhaps more difficult challenge that will earn you ten Battle Stars. All you need to do in order to complete this challenge is to deal 200 damage to a vehicle that is being driven by an enemy player. It sounds more simple than it is, however. You will need to deal the damage to the vehicle, not the driver. Head to an area filled with vehicles (such as the race track) and you should find some to shoot.

10 of Fortnite's Rarest Skins
Whether you're dropping into Fatal Fields or Greasy Grove, you want to look your best. Fortnite has countless skins, but there are those select few that prove that you put the work in. Whether you were just an early adopter or racked up the kills, here are a look at some of the rarest Fortnite skins around. -
Dire
Howl at the moon as Dire, the Werewolf Ninja Hero popping straight out of Save the World. It was the Tier 100 reward of the Season 6 battle pass, but that only got you his human form. To get him all wolfed out, you needed to complete a set of six challenges during the season. -
Galaxy
Would you purchase a cell phone just to get your hands on a Fortnite skin? Some people just may have done that to get Galaxy, the skin only available to owners of Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets during the Android beta period. He's shiny, but not that shiny. -
Giddy Up
Show your love for Fortnite's loot llamas by riding an inflatable one into battle. This jokey costume was available at Tier 23 of the Season 6 Battle Pass and comes with a custom emote. The female version of this skin, Yee-Haw!, is purchasable at the item store. -
Merry Marauder
Merry Marauder is an angry looking gingerbread man who released onto the item shop in December of 2017. He's a holiday-oriented fellow, so he only pops up when Santa is done checking his list twice. Purchasing him will also net you the Mini Marauder back bling, although that doesn't seem to make this ginger man any happier. -
Nightshade
Once you reached Tier 86 of the Season 6 Battle Pass, you received Nightshade. A female version of Tomatohead, she and her Night Cloak back bling are all part of the Pizza Pit theme; the perfect complement when you're fighting against the Burger menace. -
Recon Expert
Decidedly less flashy than other skins on this list, Recon Expect is rare solely due to its release window. It was one of the first skins to hit the shop, before the influx of players that made Fortnite the phenomenon that it is today. While it may rotate back onto the store someday, it's a rare find. -
Renegade Raider
Similar to Recon Expert, Renegade Rider only showed up very early in Fortnite's lifespan. Unlike Recon Expert, that apocalyptic melee weapon makes her fit in a bit more with the skull soldiers and vampires we're all used to seeing. Keep a lookout to see if this Raider will ever climb out of the bunker again. -
Royale Bomber
The Royale Bomber is a PlayStation exclusive, but that's not all. You only got this sunglass toting agent if you purchased specific PlayStation hardware. A controller in the U.S. and a console bundle in the European region. It's quite a hassle to look this good. -
The Reaper
Baba Yaga. The Boogeyman. The Reaper. All of these names apply to John Wick and also this somehow completely unrelated skin in Fortnite Awarded at the end of the Season 3 Battle Pass. Just don't tell anyone in Hollywood, I don't think they've noticed yet. -
Trog
Trog is love. Trog is life. Trog is the reward for Tier 71 of the Season 7 Battle Pass. We may never know where Trog is looking thanks to his famous cross-eyes, but we know that he loves all his children equally and also he is going to shoot some fools with a shotgun. Trog.
