Fortbytes first appeared in Fortnite at the launch of Season 9 earlier this month. Since then, a new Fortbyte has been unlocking every day and is discoverable at a hidden location within the world. Today’s unlock is Fortbyte 81 and it is accessible during the daytime near a mountain top cactus wedge. This is just one of 100 different Fortbytes that will be unlocking throughout the season. Collecting them all will result in an image being unlocked which will reveal secrets from Season 9. Since there are so many Fortbytes, it is best to collect them each day, or every couple of days. There are two important things to note when you’re trying to find Fortbyte 81. The first is that it is only accessible during the daytime. This means that if you queue a game and it happens to be nighttime in Fortnite, then you’re going to have to wait until it changes to morning. This doesn’t mean that you cannot find Fortbyte 81 if you’re playing at night, it simply means that in the world of Fortnite, it needs to be day time for it to show up.
The second thing to note is that it is near a mountain top cactus wedge. This will lead us to the bottom right corner of the map, to the desert biome. However, there are a lot of cacti in the desert biome and a lot of mountain tops, so which one should you head to? Easy: The mountain top cactus wedge location that you want to go to in order to find Fortbyte 81 is located close to Paradise Palms. It can be seen circled on the map in red below.
As you get close, you should see a couple of cacti on top of a mountain near Paradise Palms. That’s where you’ll want to head. If you’re flying over Paradise Palms, it looks like this.
Once you’re on the mountain, you should see Fortbyte 81 sitting close to the ledge. If it’s daytime, run over to it and pick it up! If not, you’ll need to wait it out until it changes to daytime. Or queue up a new game and hope it’s daytime!
