Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Switch 1.02 Update Patch Notes

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Switch 1.02 Update Patch Notes | Bug fixes, Shard nerfs, map changes, and more

505 Games announced the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Switch 1.02 update, which brings many changes to the issue-ridden Nintendo Switch version of the game. 505 Games has submitted the Bloodstained Switch update 1.02 to Nintendo, but no release date has been announced for the update. Still, many details of the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night update have been “locked in,” according to 505 games, so the team still had quite a bit of information to share. According to 505 Games, the team is working to confirm even more changes for the patch, which it hopes be able to detail by next week. This update has some Shard nerfs, weapon power decreases, and map interface tweaks. 505 Games noted that the planned Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Switch performance updates will not be ready to release in this coming update.

The Bloodstained team released the Switch update information on the game’s Kickstarter page. As noted above, 505 Games said the team has more changes planned on top of everything in the Kickstarter post that has been “locked in.” The most notable piece of information in the Kickstarter post is that, while the teams are continuing to “work on input delay, stability and optimization,” 505 Games is not yet ready to release performance improvements for the Switch version. According to the post, the developer will be sharing more information on these fixes “in the coming weeks.”

In the meantime, update 1.02 will introduce gamplay adjustments, mainly in the form of nerfs. The power of 11 Shards is being decreased, including a “significant” nerf to Welcome Company. Three weapons — Flying Edge, Rhava Bural, and Rhava Velar — are also receiving power decreases. To go along with these nerfs, the Dullahammer Head and Malediction enemies are receiving HP increases. The Dullahammer Head familiar is being nerfed, along with familiar upgrading via Grade, though familiar strength based on level is being increased.

Finally, 505 Games is introducing several changes to the way the game’s map works: First, the map close button is being changed to the standard exit/close button. Next, the map scroll speed and zoom in/out are being “improved,” and the zoom level will now be retained when reopening the map (though the map will now auto-center when opened). And last, the marker button a and trail button are being changed, though in what way is not specified.

505 Games also mentioned that the team is aware of an Xbox One bug that is preventing players from gaining the “Overlord” achievement. Because the team has had to address other fixes (such as those detailed above, presumably), the team plans to fix this issue within the next two weeks.
