Upgrade Crafting Guide
Apart from syringes, Jason Brody can craft upgrades to his ammo capacity and create special arrows. All ammo capacity upgrades require hunting specific animals in areas labelled by the animal's white silhouette on the map. All of the Extended versions can only be crafted by slaying a specific animal for a Path of the Warrior quest that are mainly unlocked after taking out outposts.
I recommend crafting the upgrades for the holster, wallet, rucksack, syringe, and ammo pouches as early as possible. The holster is a given, since it gives you more guns and thereby more choices. A larger wallet is necessary in purchasing signature weapons and a larger rucksack means less travel necessary to a store. Having more syringes allow more slots for medicine and a larger ammo pouch adds ammo capacity for 5 weapon types so that you rarely ever need to look for ammo.
