The Red Dead Online September update will be launching on September 10, 2019 and is set to bring with it Frontier Pursuits, which allow players to choose from a variety of Specialist Roles. Whichever role players choose will determine the themed activities they will take part in, each offering a variety of skills, rewards, and items that they can receive as part of that role. There are only three roles that will be included in the September update, but Rockstar promises that more will come in the future, each adding a new aspect to the online world.

Players will be able to work their way through 20 Role Ranks by earning Role XP. This specified XP can be earned by completing activities that are specific to your role. For example, hunting a bounty will earn Role XP for those with the Bounty Hunter role, while finding a collectible would earn those who have chosen the Collector role some Role XP. As you progress through your Role Ranks, you’ll eventually unlock Role Tokens which can be used to unlock a variety of skills specific to your role. So, let’s take a look at each of the Specialist Roles that are coming as a part of the Red Dead Online September update in just a few days.

The Bounty Hunter

The Bounty Hunter Specialist Role can be unlocked by visiting a Legendary Bounty Hunter in Rhodes and purchasing a Bounty Hunter License for 15 Gold Bars. However, if you link your Twitch and Rockstar Games accounts before September 8, you can get the license for free. Once you’ve obtained your licence, you’ll be able to pick up bounties from law offices, post offices, and train stations all across the map. The Wild West is never short on criminals, so you won’t have to worry about running out of bounties to collect.

Once you have reached Bounty Hunter Rank 12, you’ll be able to collect bounties on other players in your server who have a bounty that exceeds $20. Player will have a limited time to capture the wanted player and turn them in. If the wanted player escapes or kills you, then you won’t receive the reward.

The Collector

Red Dead Online September Update

To unlock the Collector Specialist Role, you’ll need to visit Madam Nazar, a travelling saleswoman who will give you a special Collector’s Bag that will get your started in the role, for the small price of 15 Gold Bars. If you also play GTA online, you can collect all 54 hidden playing cards and avoid having to pay the Gold Bar fee. As a Collector, players will explore the world, seeking out the most valuable treasure that they can find. As your collection grows, you can sell your items to Madam Nazar  to earn a nice reward. As you journey through the Specialist Role, you’ll be able to earn a variety of tools, like a metal detector, which will make the hunt a little bit easier.

The Trader

Red Dead Online September Update

To unlock the Trader Specialist Role, players will need to partner up with Cripps, who has always dreamed of owning his own trading outpost. Your new company, Cripps Trading Company, will require you to hunt a variety of animals across the world of Red Dead Online, which Cripps can trade or sell at his outpost. Unfortunately, starting your business won’t be free and will require players to invest 15 Gold Bars to start their thriving business. However, if you are on the PlayStation 4, you’ll be able to forego the startup fees. As your business grows, you’ll be able to use the profits to purchase new equipment, like a Hunting Wagon, which will allow you to bring in larger hauls.
