Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is a game that is as much about survival as it is taking down the enemy. As such, useful features such as hunting are in the game, allowing you to kill animals for handy supplies like protein. People have found the Ghost Recon: Breakpoint animals not dropping protein, however. This is definitely an annoying bug, as you should be able to gather resources such as protein from animals in the game. Read on to see if there is an animals not dropping protein bug fix.
What is the Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Animals not Dropping Protein Bug?
While playing Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, you need to ensure that you stay alive. You’ll be fighting not only against the enemy, however, as you’ll also need to stave off hunger. To do so, you will need to find and create rations to consume. The trouble is, animals are not giving out protein for many players when they kill them. Hunting right now, for the most part, appears to be pointless.

We’ve seen several different threads on the issue over on the official Ubisoft Support Forums. It appears as though the bug is affecting players across the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the game. Oddly enough, we’ve seen suggestions that it was working on day one, but not since for some, while others have complained that animals (particularly large ones such as deer) have never dropped protein. Is there a fix for this bug?
Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Animals not Dropping Protein | Is there a bug fix?
Unfortunately, there is no fix available for the animals not dropping protein in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint bug as of writing. Ubisoft is aware of the issue, however, as you can see from Ubi-Baron’s response in this support thread. There are some suggestions as to how you can get hold of some protein, however.
For the most part, the bug appears to be affecting the larger animals. You should find that creatures such as deer are not dropping protein when you hunt them. Smaller creatures such as birds, shellfish, and sea cucumbers, however, appear to still be dropping protein. For now, we’d recommend scoping those animals out in order to get hold of some protein. Hopefully, it won’t be long before Ubisoft fixes the animals not dropping protein bug, however.
