The Outer Worlds respec machine is weirdly hidden. It lurks in a corner that the game never takes you to. With that in mind, it’s all too easy to wonder how to respec in The Outer Worlds and reallocate your perks and skill points.
How to respec in The Outer Worlds
The Outer Worlds respec machine is on your ship, The Unreliable, as you can see in the map above. Just hop aboard and go immediately to your right in the doorway opposite of Ada and your navigation terminal.
From here, go up the ladder in the center of the above picture.
Then turn around and you’ll see it in the corner on the catwalk above the doorway you just walked in.
You’ll see what the Vocational Competence Respecification Machine looks like in the picture at the top of the page. You have to pay 500 bits to reassign your perk points and skill points. Just be warned that the price doubles every time you do it. Once you pay up, you can move your points around how you please. This is very helpful if you want a certain dialogue choice and don’t have the appropriate skill high enough. Achieving the multiple endings revolves around high stats so you may want to keep a few saves handy to see them all. After all, it does require you to hit 100 on a few different skills, which might not be something you’ve done naturally.
This also applies to your party members as well. Their skill points, which you can see under their names on the menu screen (and then tab over from their weapons to their armor to the skill points), can be reassigned however you like when you choose to respec yourself.
